Start with the model and variant
One dress model may come in several colours and sizes. Every sellable variant needs its own SKU, barcode and stock quantity.
Separate physical, available and reserved stock
- physical stock tells you how many units exist at the location;
- reserved stock belongs to open orders;
- available stock prevents two managers from selling the same unit.
Record every movement
Receipts, transfers, write-offs, returns and stock-count adjustments need a date, location and responsible person. This makes discrepancies explainable.
Connect inventory to the sale
When reservations, payment, dispatch and returns stay connected to the order, stock changes in the context of a real event. This is what removes manual reconciliation.
